Who is this course for?
This course is designed for those who require certification in the control, maintenance, examination and paperwork of personal fall protection equipment for companies. This is also suited for rope access supervisors, rope rescue supervisors, safety supervisors, PPE managers, business owners and those responsible for worksites or stores who will benefit from this course.
Current EU & UK legislation, including the Work at Height Regulations and LOLER, requires work at height equipment to be thoroughly examined at regular intervals by a ‘competent person’. This course teaches candidates how to systematically manage and inspect personal protective equipment for work at height (collectively called personal fall protection equipment) throughout its lifetime.
The course covers in detail current legislation and equipment standards, appropriate selection, identification, maintenance and storage of equipment, formal thorough examinations of equipment and the production of appropriate examination regimes and reports.
Topics are covered using a combination of hands-on product inspection training, destructive testing demonstrations and formal presentations.
At the end of the course, following successful completion of a formal assessment and verification by an external moderator, we deem you ‘competent’ to be able to undertake thorough examinations of equipment that we verify during the course.
PPE inspection training is aimed at safety harness and equipment users who are trained and competent in the use of the equipment which they wish to inspect. This training programme is designed to take account of local legislation and can be delivered appropriate to the country in which the client is operating in.
Many current EU, UK, USA & Canadian regulations require all personal protective equipment (PPE) and working at height equipment to be inspected at regular intervals by a ‘competent person’.
This PPE inspector course is designed to give each delegate the knowledge and skills to form a judgement on the condition of an item of equipment and determine if it is serviceable.
At the end of the course participants will be able to:
- Complete pre-use checks on equipment, in a systematic manner and according to manufacturers’ instructions
- Inspect items of equipment, including safety harnesses, using an inspection sheet, according to the equipment standard.
