  To qualify for this course, all delegates must have done a ladder inspection Competent Person (CP) course. Must be familiar with the operation and use of ladder equipment for work at height. The minimum age for candidates is 18+ years. This course requires discipline and diligence to follow the systematic processes introduced for equipment inspection.

  The course will include hands-on inspections of a variety of equipment available on the market.

  Viewing of destructive tests on ladders.

  • Identification of different types of damage from sample-damaged Ladders & Step Ladders

• Course Assessment

  The examination process includes a theoretical paper and a practical assessment.

  1. Written Examination.
  2. Practical Inspection Examination with Documentation.
  3. Assignment: Our inspector will inspect the work you have completed post-course to ensure quality.  
• Course Certification

  Delegates who complete the course will receive a Working at Height Limited Certificate in Ladder Inspection Competent Person. The certificate is valid for two years.

  All delegates will have to complete a quality audit post-course by a Working at Height Master Instructor Trainer (MIT) at the time of Working at Height Limited’s description to ensure quality. 

• Course Ratio

  Learner to Instructor Ratio.

  This course is a 6:1 minimum ratio. The maximum ratio is 12:1.

• Course Cost

  This course costs € 500.00 per person.

  The course cost is based on a class at a 6:1 ratio only. Courses can run on a one-on-one basis, but the cost would increase. 

  If you require one-on-one instruction, the course cost is €800.00 per person.

• Course Delevery

  This course is delivered by a certified instructor / train-the-trainer:

  European Union – EFCoCert100 European certification scheme developed under Erasmus+ for vocational trainers, ensuring consistent certification across countries.

  Ireland – QQI Level 6-certified instructor,

  United Kingdom – an Agored Cymru-Train the Trainer & Ofqual-certified Level 3 Train the Trainer.

  Canada – SAIT Train the Trainer Certificate

  Australia – TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

  Mexico – ECO217.01 Certification.

  International Standard – ISO 17024:2026 Conformity Assessment: General requirements for operating bodies operating certification of persons.

  United States – There is no formal training standard for instructors in the USA.

  Note: In locations with no official trainer standards globally, Working at Height Limited, It will train its instructors in its own internal Instructor Development Course (IDC25), which is compliant with all of the above standards; this is to ensure quality instruction.

  All Working at Height Limited Programs for Ladder inspection are fully compliant with

  • European Union EN131:2018 – 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7.
  • Health and Safety Authority: Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007.
  • Health & Safety Executive: BS EN 131:2018 & BS 4211 .
  • Occupational Safety & Health Administration: ANSI ASC-14.7-2011, ANSI A14.3, 29 CFR 1926.1053 & 29 CFR 1910.23.
  • Canadian Centre for Occupational Health and Safety: CSA Standard Z11-12, ANSI ASC-14.7-2011, ANSI A14.3.
• Legislation or Code of Practice
  • There is no legislation or code of practice stating the life expectancy of any ladder. In general, it is recommended that you follow the manufacturer’s instructions. The manufacturer must give the obsolescence deadline or period of obsolescence of ladders or its components. The date of obsolescence is the date from which the ladder becomes useless for its intended use or is no longer fit for its purpose. (Requirement under Annex II   Point 1.4 (e), of Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016 on personal protective equipment, transposed in Ireland as European Union.
  • The manufacturer must provide all information necessary so that the user can determine a reasonable period of obsolescence. However, the manufacturer is not obliged to affix the date of manufacture on the product or on the instructions for use, although some may do this.
  • In general, manufacturers do give information on how to identify the “end of life”, a limiting date of use or a maximum service time.
