End-user V’s Comperent Person
End-User Vs Competent Person
What Is the Difference between an End User and a Competent Person?
End-user training brings users up to speed with the basic knowledge and skills of a training course. An end user has limited skills and knowledge.
A competent person is someone who has advanced training and experience or knowledge and other qualities that allow them to educate, inspect, audit and consult in a specific area of expertise.
Who is an end user?
Prioritising end-user training objectives is one of the best ways to improve your business’s customer experience. But what is end-user training? End-user training is the process of educating end users (AKA students/workplace staff) about how to use your products and inspect them. This is achieved by using in-person hands-on training or guided digital learning tools, which are one of the most popular methods.
Who is a Competent Person (CP) vs. an Authorised Competent Person (ACP)?
A competent person (CP), also known as an authorised competent person (ACP), has been trained and authorised by a manufacturer in their products and procedures. In some cases, the authorised competent person is trained and authorised to reteach the products and procedures (e.g., Working at Height Limited). You must get trained by an authorised competent person to enable you to meet the requirements of Irish, EU & North American health and safety law.
A competent person (CP) is someone who has had extensive training, knowledge and experience of certain equipment and skills.
This level is normally carried out by someone who has been trained by either an ACP or a manufacturer of specific equipment requirements.
The level of competence required will depend on the complexity of the equipment and the knowledge or specific skills needed.
- Manufacturing Training.
Every manufacturer for all PPE requires you to be trained by them or an Authorised Competent Person (ACP) Training Partner in the specifics of their equipment for inspection or use.
- End-User Training.
However, some training courses train the use of specific equipment as an end-user only. This does not qualify you as a competent person to inspect personal protective equipment on an annual basis, as there is a lot more to completing an annual inspection and documenting that inspection.
Note:
When getting help, you should give preference to those who have the appropriate level of competence.
