Safe Work at Height
This course is designed to reach a wide audience working in a variety of fields that are required to work at height. Our Safe Work at Height course focuses on the skills and underpinning knowledge needed to safely and effectively work at height using a range of methods.

Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for anyone who needs to work at height as part of their job. These may include engineers, electricians, builders, cleaners, painters, electricians and plant operators, to name but a few.
Prerequisites
Course participants must be a minimum of 18 years old and medically fit and healthy. Learners must also provide their own basic PPE, including non-slip work gloves, eye protection, suitable outdoor clothing and safety footwear. Learners will also be required to provide proof of identity at the start of their training.
Content
This course covers the practical application of the Working at Height Regulations, including
- Work at Height legislation and regulations.
- ABC’s of basic fall protection,
- End-User PPE Inspection.
- Fixed Ladder Access
- Fixed Ladder “Y” Lanyard Climbing.
- Fixed ladder work positioning.
- Use of limited fall protection systems.
The course will also cover the practical and safe use of personal fall protection equipment, including harness and lanyard, fall restraint, fall arrest, work positioning, working safely and assessing risk.
Assessment
The course is assessed using practical demonstration and verbal reasoning throughout. This course culminates in a summative multiple-choice assessment paper with an 85% pass mark.
Certification
Successful learners will be issued with a WAHL Safe Work at Height certificate valid for 2 years from the date of assessment; annual refreshers are recommended.
This course is delivered in accordance with BS 8454:2006, “Code of practice for the delivery of training and education for ‘work at height and rescue’.”

Grants and Funding
Funding Available (Ireland):
Unemployed
If you are unemployed and seeking work, you may be eligible for funding from the Department of Social Protection to cover all or some of the costs of your training. (meaning, depending, you may be entitled to up to €1000).
Candidates who wish to avail of this must make an appointment with a case officer in their local Intreo office, discuss their case & apply for funding. The candidate will receive a funding application form which they must sign & bring/post to us. Upon completion, we will send this back to the case officer, who will then review the funding application.
Upon receiving funding approval in the post from the Department of Social Protection, candidates must then call us to reserve a place on our course. We cannot confirm a place on our course until funding approval is gained.
Employed
If employed within the private sector or a sole trader, there may also be funding assistance available through Skillnet funding. Skillnet may fund a percentage of your training if eligible. For more details on this, please contact us on 074 91 27786.
Funding Available (United Kingdom):
Funding for training can be availed of through candidates’ local enterprise partnerships and through a range of support which is developed through schools’ and colleges’ careers services to educate school leavers and those in education that they may be applicable for places in this training.
Those who are unemployed will be able to access information on government training schemes through their local Jobs and Benefits Office, which will have information on all eligible schemes.
